The Art Journal

Woot! Just found out in the last few days that I passed 100 subscribers on YouTube! Ok ok I know that’s not very much. Especially when there are plenty of people there with thousands or even hundreds-of-thousands of subscribers! But’s a big deal for me. Since starting the channel back in 2010, I’ve lingered […]

A few weeks ago, I published a review of the new Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 (you can watch that episode here). That review has been watched a few thousand times (which is a big deal for me – thank you!) I really tried to touch on all the pros and cons in that initial video. It’s […]

For my son’s birthday invitation a few years back, I wanted to turn him into Darth Maul from Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace (you remember – that movie with Jar Jar. The horrible writing. The corny jokes. But mostly, Jar Jar). Despite all of its shortcomings, it did have a great bad guy in […]

For this week’s video I thought I would share a quick tip to improve the color of your video lighting in your productions. Some of you may create YouTube videos at home, and perhaps you always shoot with window light. But what if you want to shoot, say, at night in a room that has warm-colored […]

Episode 2 : Deliberate Practice and Drawing Disney is now available! First off, a big thanks to all of you that have subscribed, liked or commented on the channel. I really appreciate it! It’s been fun seeing the reaction so far – definitely the Wacom MobileStudio Pro review has been popular! Wacom has since released […]

I’m in a bit of a transition creatively-speaking.

Do you think you are ready for a show, but have never done one before? How do you take that first step? What should you expect? This is where I found myself back in the beginning of 2016. I was approved to have a booth at the huge, annual Junior League “A Christmas Affair” show […]

For our 2016 family Christmas card, we decided to go with a “New York holiday window” theme! We saw several of these displays a few weeks ago while in NYC, and  thought it would be a great idea for as our card. Here’s the final image (click to view larger): BTS Photos Of course, none […]

Hustle. Grind. Donkeywork. Elbow grease. They all pretty-much mean the same thing. I follow quite a few people that preach on the power of hustle. Probably the king right now is Gary Vaynerchuk. His videos and posts are entertaining, informative, and can leave you with the distinct taste of ‘I suck’ at the end of […]
